What we thought

We had long anticipated our visit to The Plough, Leatherhead, having passed by it countless times on our way to Majestic (!). So, we were eager to explore what this establishment had to offer and, last Saturday, we finally managed it.

And we are so glad we got there. This is a true hidden gem, which offers a unique dining experience in collaboration with Malai Thai, the pub's resident restaurant.

As soon as we entered, we were warmly greeted by Andrew, who guided us to our table. The restaurant has a chic charm with tasteful decor, creating a welcoming ambience that immediately sets the tone for an evening there. The food menu at Malai Thai is extensive, but Andrew recommended his favourites to us, making ordering far easier as otherwise we would have wanted to try it all.

Andrew's recommendations proved to be spot-on. Each dish was ludicrously tasty - no doubt why the restaurant was packed by 18.55 on a Saturday, with floods of takeaway orders coming in. Despite being busy though, the staff managed to deliver impeccable and friendly service, which always makes such a difference.

One thing we loved about the Plough was how it was great to go to on a cold winter’s night, but how, in the Summer, we know we’ll love to visit its beer garden. Plus, the recent facelift in the bar area makes the pub that little bit more modern, but importantly simply makes it a relaxing space for people to unwind with a drink. The owner, Grant, and his team have undeniably succeeded in creating a venue that is inviting and welcoming.

In addition to the food and stylish interiors, The Plough often hosts live music in the bar area, which is yet another way the pub makes for such a great place. When mixed with its impeccable service and delicious food, The Plough will now always be high on our list of places to meet friends and indulge in a yummy Thai meal.

Would we go back?

Absolutely. We can’t wait to return.
